donald trump and our new #alternative facts world

Yep Mexico isn’t paying for any wall…we are…and that 20% tax donald trump is considering…that’s you….any way you want to spin it your money is paying for that wall

“Lock him up? Trump is still using “his old, unsecured Android phone, In case anyone’s forgotten, for over a year, the political world decided that the single most important story in the United States in 2016 was Hillary Clinton’s use of an unsecured email”

Lock them up?” Senior Trump administration staffers including Kellyanne Conway, Jared Kushner, Sean Spicer and Steve Bannon have active accounts on a Republican National Committee email server.” (a private email server)

The guy being put in as head of epa….who told epa to stay out of his Oklahoma business when they expressed concern “over 644 earthquakes in a year made by the practice of pumping at high pressure wastewater deep into the earth. When the volume of wastewater injection peaked in 2015, Oklahoma was experiencing two or more magnitude 3.0 earthquakes per day. Before 2009, when wastewater injection really started ramping up, the rate was about one per year.”

And what is trumps sick fixation on torture ? Let’s see him get waterboarded and then call it just an “uncomfortable” tactic. Even tho the General’s he chose says it does not work

Now he just pissed off Mexico and apparently his bragged about negotiation skill isn’t so hot after all.. Pena 1 Trump 0

He doesn’t read books…seriously? Or is it he can’t understand content?

He lies….every day…he has the emotional maturity of a toddler in the midst of the terrible two’s  #alternativefacts

We have a bunch of old fart white guys making decisions for OUR bodies

“He tried to “gag” state departments Park service employees launched a Twitter campaign against Trump this week. After three climate-science tweets by Badlands National Park were deleted, several other parks posted tweets related to climate change in an apparent show of solidarity and defiance”
” Trump is poised to suspend all entry to the U.S. from seven Muslim-majority countries. Interesting is not on the list are Muslim majority countries where Trump has business dealings. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan”

The lists go on an on…we are being led by someone not in their right mind….this is not about republican or democrat…think if democrats put up Howard Stern or Kanye….this is about sanity. And this guy is one sick demagogue!

September 11, 2001 never forgotten

com-2015-anniversary_18959September 11 already 15 years in the past. As we all do I remember exactly where I was that tragic morning. I was on the east coast and watched the horror unfold on the TV.  My best friend worked at World Financial. I immediately shot off an email asking where she was and if she was safe.

She had a meeting with her team that morning at the World Trade Center. The meeting room she had booked was on the 103rd floor of the south tower.

As I waited for a reply to my email I stood in front of the tv, I couldn’t bring myself to sit. When the second plane hit there was no doubt anymore this was not an accident.

In one of those unexplained life events when my friend went to check into their meeting room that morning she was told there had been a double booking  and would she mind using a meeting room on the 3rd floor. That mix-up would save the lives of her and her team.

Announcements came over the speaker system for everyone to stay put that all was under control. She could feel the building shake, the announcements to stay put continued. Thankfully she decided to ignore the messages and told her team “we are getting out of here”.

I saw a reply message from her telling me she had exited the building. She told me she saw people  jumping out of the building, she saw others engulfed in flames.

Although it took her over 6 hours to find her way home in New Jersey she was one of the lucky ones that made it out that day.

When I flew up to see her and we went into New York the smell in the air even weeks later I will never forget. It was several years before she could bring herself to work on that day.

Every year I think of all that she would have missed if her meeting was in the originally scheduled 103rd floor.  Her daughters engagement and wedding. Supporting her sisters fight with a rare form of cancer. The trips we took together, all the great nieces and nephews born. Family weddings, Holidays and all the just normal day to day of life that we don’t always notice and cherish in the moment.

I’m grateful every day that I didn’t lose my friend. It reminds me how life can be fleeting and it is up to us that honor all those who have passed so tragically to live our lives fully. That is how we honor them, live well, live with integrity and most of all live in kindness.

To all of those who lost their lives that day and all who loved them.

We will never forget.

childhood recipes, oh the memories

Isn’t it wonderful how the recipes our mom or dad made growing up bring back such warm memories.  The traditions of what and the when of the foods we ate.  Was it the homemade chicken soup when you were sick?  Or the tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwich on rainy days.  Continue reading “childhood recipes, oh the memories”

When a family member is toxic

Do you have friends that feel more like family than your family? Is blood really thicker or is it the value of the relationship in your life?  We let go of friends if they become toxic in our life. Why do we struggle with doing the same with toxic family?

Alanon has a saying “lovingly detach”. If a sibling, cousin etc is is someone who just brings in negativity do you feel bound to endure it because they are “blood”?  It is a hard decision to separate from a toxic family member and there may always be family events that have you in the same room. But to disconnect from active involvement to me is the healthy choice. Continue reading “When a family member is toxic”

Should adult children get paid for helping parents?

Question: Do you pay your adult children for services rendered? In my day family never paid a family member for help given. If an adult child was a painter they painted their parents living room for free. If the adult child was a hairdresser the haircuts were for free. If the adult child was a lawyer legal work was given for free. Supplies were paid for…the paint for the living room wall for example. Sometimes you need to stop and watch a sunset……..

Recently a friend said to me…”Georgia sometimes you need to stop and watch a sunset”.

It seems like days just whirl by. Laptop is opened to warm up while I go to pour my coffee at 6:30am . Thus  starts a day full of a flurry of activity. Deadlines to keep…meetings to attend…laundry to do….oh and somewhere in there is at least one meal other than the protein bar I call breakfast. plastic surgery…yes or no?

Do you have this battle?  You know the one that says…love yourself-  be one with who you are…and the other that says..where the heck is the nearest Plastic Surgeon!

Aging is a natural part of the lifecycle.  And Lord knows how much happier I am in “my own skin” than I was 30 years ago. How dangerous would we be  if we had the wisdom of our years with the power of our 30 year old bodies. Continue reading “plastic surgery…yes or no?”

How Boomers survived childhood….

This story always cracks me up…..time for a revisit .

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with brightly colored lead-based paints.

We had no child-proof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats, seat belts or air bags.
Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. Continue reading “How Boomers survived childhood….”

My workout commitment phobia…….

I love working out. You wouldn’t know that by the lack of consistency in my execution. But when I do and my hour is finished…I’m one smiling proud gal. It’s how easily I get distracted from  getting to that hour that’s my issue.  I’ve complained to gyms over the years  that those contracts they make us sign should come with a “we will drag your butt here kicking and screaming if necessary” clause.

I hate those celebrity pics that show them losing 45 lbs of baby weight and having hard as rock bodies seemingly a day after giving birth…they don’t fool me. Other than the photo touch-up people ,they have trainers who show up at their house and scream at them like Jillian on the Biggest Loser. Torturing them through hours of workouts. I can just hear the trainer yelling…”get down there and give me 50 more push-ups…fix that fat belly or you will be relegated to the D list of celebrities along with Kathy Griffin.” If only you could order my own Jillian type trainer from Amazon at less than the cost of my mortgage. Another year…

I like new years..well except for the getting one year older part. God I remember when all I wanted was to get older. I always wondered if it was a bad thing to pray to get older. Seemed selfish. But there I was with rosary in hand praying for my period to start or to hurry up and get to 16 then to 18… Oh how times change… now I am in no hurry to add another number to my age. Continue reading “Another year…”
